Pest Control Questions Homeowners Ask in Allentown

Questions

What people ask us

How much does residential pest control cost?

It depends on the pest, the size of the home and how bad things are. As a rough U.S. guide, a one-time visit for common pests often runs from about $100 to $300. Rodent work, bed bug treatment and termite treatment usually cost more. Prices vary by job, so ask the provider for a written quote before you agree to anything.

Who actually does the work if I use Grewlab Pest Control?

An independent local provider does the work, not Grewlab Pest Control. We are a referral service. You tell us what is going on, and your request goes to a provider in our network that serves the Allentown area. After that, the provider sets the visit, the price and the plan with you. Referral, not repairs. If you have a question about the job itself, ask the provider directly, since they run it from start to finish.

What happens during a first pest control visit?

Say a provider arrives and starts by asking where you saw the pests and when. Then they walk the home, often checking the basement, attic, kitchen and outside walls. They explain what they found, suggest a treatment and give a quote. Some providers treat on that first visit. Others book a second visit. Ask which one applies to you.

Can I handle ants, mice or roaches myself?

Sometimes. A few ants on the counter may clear up with cleaning and store-bought bait. But DIY has limits. Sprays can scatter roaches or ants into new spots. A mouse you see is often one of several. If the problem keeps coming back after a couple of tries, or you see signs in more than one room, it is time to ask a provider.

Is an older home harder to treat?

Often a bit, yes. Older homes can have stone or block foundations, small gaps around old pipes, worn trim and past repairs hidden behind walls. Pests use all of that. A provider may spend more time inspecting. Older homes, extra looks. Mention your home's age when you request service so the provider can plan for it.

How do I choose a good pest control provider?

Ask a few plain questions. Is the provider licensed in your state? What exactly will they treat, and what products do they use? Is the quote in writing? What happens if the pests return? A provider who answers clearly and does not rush you is a good sign. Ask the provider to explain any pet or child safety steps too.

Do you handle wildlife like squirrels or raccoons?

Many providers in our network handle wildlife removal, such as squirrels in an attic or animals nesting under a porch. Methods differ by animal and by season, and some animals have legal protections. Ask the provider how they remove the animal, how they seal the entry point and whether repairs are part of the quote or separate.

Will homeowners insurance pay for pest damage?

Often not. Many policies treat pests and slow termite damage as maintenance issues. Some policies may cover sudden damage, so check your own policy or ask your insurer. Providers can often help document damage with notes and photos if you need to file a claim, but the insurer makes the final call.
